art & design by
My practice is hybrid of art and product design, where the subtleties and poetics of space, form, ecology, experience and gesture inform the creation of useable or interactive objects and installations. I bring a background of fine arts and extensive travel in the Arctic to my work.
I often combine the processes of furniture making/sculpture, ceramics, watercolour painting, drawing and installation to map-out and tell stories about objects in a humble and optimistic way. My recent work draws upon the heroic spirit of cooperation that defines the polar regions (and other ‘frontiers’ of change) and incorporates sweetly absurd gestures to suggest that collective hard work, exchange, and bravery are essential for adaptation to change.
I graduated with a BA (Fine Art) from Curtin University, Western Australia in 2009 and an Advanced Diploma of Product Design and Innovation at Central Instititute of Technology in 2014. I live in Perth, Western Australia, but am often found elsewhere (especially where its very very cold).
